Match was Drawn AHCC 10 points
Match report
An unexpected game of cricket after rain the previous night saw the Hastings skipper win the toss once again and put the opposition into bat. The innings got off to a flier for Melton as they raced along at a decent rate. With catches going down in the field confidence was high for the batting side and they got a very competitive 242 all out. Once again Gough being the pick of the bowlers with 3-40. On a positive note was the first time Hastings had bowled a side out this season.
With 46 overs to bat a Hastings needed to get off to a flier and a first 50 opening partnership was just what was needed, coming in the 8th over. Marriott continued his way past 50 for a career best of 52. At 79-3 the good start could of easily unravelled, however a fantastic partnership between the promising Legg and Hall helped stabilise the innings and begin to rebuild. Brown and Vaughan put on 85 for the 7th wicket but this left Hastings just short of a formidable total. A fantastic batting display with this being the third teams highest ever score, beating their previous best of 221 in 2008.
Next week a home game against Thorpe Arnold and another game which should be very competitive.
