Match report Batting first Ashby Knights started brightly with some solid hitting from Berrows and Phillips, second pair Lumb and Ward continued the theme leaving Ashby in a reasonable position at half way. Stewart and Johnson consolidated the middle of the innings allowing White and Kemp to go for broke at the end setting a target of 259 – 6, the Kegworth bowling remained tight throughout giving little away.

The Kegworth reply relied mainly on some inconsistent bowling allowing the total to increase by extras with very few runs off the bat, Johnson was the only wicket taker and despite some spirited fielding and some very near misses for run outs Kegworth finished on 283 – 1 and the victors by 24 runs, a much closer match than the score suggests.

A very positive performance for the lads first game of hard ball cricket, all played in a good spirit and well hosted by Kegworth CC.
