Marstons 2nd XI v Ashby Hastings Cricket Club 3rd XI on Sat 28 Apr 2007 at 2:00pm
Ashby Hastings Cricket Club Won By 3 wkts

Match report Ashby Hastings have continued their youth development policy by entering a Senior 3rd XI in the Burton League this year.
In their first league game they enjoyed victory against Marstons 2nd XI in a high-scoring match, which showed the ‘Pedigree’ of the side and was won by 3 wickets and with 14 balls to spare.
Ashby invited Marstons to bat first and opening bowlers Pete Patel & Matt Anslow kept their batsmen pegged down, with only 49 runs coming from the first 15-overs and in which time several loose shots were played by their batsmen, all of which went in the air but between fielders. Simon Moore bowled a very good spell in mid-innings, with the opening bowlers also coming back to claim 3 wickets each, with Marstons closing on 220 for 9 after their 45-overs.
When Ashby batted, the opening pair of Jonny Sharp and Goose Fletcher provided a solid partnership of 45 off only 9-overs. However, excellent batting by Richard Lewis (47 not out) and Pete Patel (91 not out) saw Ashby to victory – Lewis batted through the pain of several nose-bleeds, having had to retire twice for a lie-down!!
