Ashby Hastings Cricket Club 1st XI v Loughborough Outwoods on Sat 03 Jun 2017 at 1pm
Ashby Hastings Cricket Club Won by 6 wickets

Match report
Ashby Hastings 123-4
Loughborough Outwoods 120 all out
Ashby win by 6 wickets

Ashby maintained their unbeaten start to the season with another successful chase of a moderately low total.
Once again Tom Yates couldn’t go wrong when it came to the toss and he inserted the oponents into bat. It proved to be the correct decision as opening bowler, Richard Lewis struck early, thanks to a quite superb catch from wicket keeper, Spencer Clark. The visitors then started to build a partnership. Taylor and Davey scored 19 and 33 respectively before the former again fell to Lewis, caught by Clark. Mike Davies then removed Davey, who dragged the ball onto his own stumps.
Davies bowled 12 overs straight through and managed to take 2 more wickets, one of which gave Spencer Clark his third catch of the match. Ashby then opted for a change of pace, introducing their two spin bowlers Chris Beck and Sam Perkins. Beck had immediate effect when he took a wicket with an LBW decision. The spin pair took wickets at regular intervals and this kept Ashby on top of the visitors. Loughborough’s number 6 offered some resistance, but eventually was caught by Richard Lewis off the bowling of Perkins. The visitors ended up posting a total of 120 all out, with Chris Beck being the pick of the bowlers with figures of 3 for 23 off 9 overs.
Ashby’s reply started brightly. Captain Tom Yates and Spencer Clark scored quickly and Yates looked in superb form. He managed to hit boundaries at ease and Clark ticked along nicely at the other end. The pair were finally separated with the score on 66, Clark was trapped leg before wicket. Yates was soon to follow, as well as Chris Beck and Ashby found themselves 3 wickets down. This meant that forgotten man, Ollie Hunt and finisher Jake Poole were at the crease. Hunt batted beautifully and raced to 29 before being run out with Ashby needing just 2 to win. Richard Lewis came to the crease and wasted no time in smashing a four to give Ashby the victory.
Ashby won by 6 wickets and took 25 points from the game. Next week they visit Kegworth Town and will look for the superb momentum to continue.
